Swift Current murder case gets first local court date
The Swift Current Provincial Court date for Christopher Sean Foster, who has been charged with the second-degree murder of Matthew Neufeld, has been set for Oct. 22. Foster, 54, is scheduled to make his second court appearance related to the charge on Wednesday. His first appearance was held Oct. 17 in Regina Provincial Court. Curtis Wiebe, regional Crown prosecutor, clarified why Foster initially appeared in Regina. “We had a judge’s conference and he was arrested on a Wednesday,” said Wiebe. “We had no provincial court judge here on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. He made his first appearance in Regina before a provincial court judge there, just because of practicalities.” The alleged murder occurred Aug. 8, when RCMP found Neufeld at a residence on 1st Avenue Northwest. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
