Gravelbourg woman handed CSO for trafficking firearms
A southwest woman is set to spend the next nine months on a conditional sentence order after being sentenced last week on a charge garnered from an incident involving stolen firearms that saw several individuals arrested this past spring. Gravelbourg's Justine Lorrain pleaded guilty and was sentenced in Assiniboia Provincial Court last Thursday on one count of firearm trafficking, in the form of a .22 calibre rifle and a .303 rifle. As a part of the nine-month CSO, the 34-year-old was given a curfew, is not to possess or consume any drugs or alcohol, must reside at an approved residence, and is subject to a breath or urine test upon request from a police officer. She was also ordered not to possess any firearms or restricted weapons, and is prohibited from contacting or being at the home or workplace of Cecil Everson, one of the co-accused in the matters. A charge of break-and-enter to steal a firearm was stayed upon the conclusion of Lorrain's matters. On April 29, Gravelbourg RCMP were alerted to a break-in at a rural property outside of Lafleche, leading to the recovery of two stolen firearms. Lorrain was charged on July 3 and first appeared in court in Assiniboia in August. Jason Palmier, one of the co-accused in the case, was sentenced in February of this year. While Everson and Anna-Linn Kisilevich still have matters in court.
