Two Saturday fires call Swift Current Fire Department into action
The Swift Current Fire Department responded to a fire on Saturday, Oct. 25, and a second fire later that same day. The first incident was a patio fire at a residence on 7th Avenue Northwest in the 400 block. After getting the call at 5:36 p.m., crews arrived and ensured the fire was out, reporting no injuries and only minor damage to the patio. The second incident was called in at 10:13 p.m. and involved an SUV on fire on 11th Avenue Northwest at the overpass for the Trans-Canada Highway. The vehicle sustained significant damage, although the fire was quickly extinguished. There were no injuries in this incident. Neither of these incidents is under investigation. The Swift Current Fire Department urges people to make sure their smoking materials are extinguished properly.
