The Swift Current Broncos wrapped up their US Division road swing with a 4-1 loss to the Tri-City Americans on Tuesday night.

The Broncos lost all five games on their trip to drop to 6-8-0-1 on the season.

It only took 34 seconds for the Americans to open the scoring. Brian McCue's centering pass sat in Eetu Laurikainen's feet and before he could find it, Phillip Tot jammed in his 4th of the season.

The Broncos responded from the frustrating start by drawing three straight penalties and going to work on the man advantage. They had some good looks and scoring chances, but weren't able to break through on Americans rookie goaltender Evan Sarthou. Tri-City had a power play later in the period and also couldn't convert. The Americans held a slight 14-12 shot edge after twenty minutes of play.

Swift Current got on the board 1:14 into the second period when Connor Sanvido jammed in a puck on the goal line. Despite many chances in the game that's all the offence the Broncos could muster.

Tri-City again pulled ahead at 8:01 of the second when Braden Purtill lifted a backhand over the glove of Laurikainen. Each team managed 14 shots on goal in the period.

The Americans got the insurance they needed as Brian Williams tapped in a rebound 1:29 into the third period. Tot put the game out of reach into an empty net with 1:08 to go in the game. Tri-City outshot the Broncos 7-6 in the period for a total of 35-32.

The Broncos were outscored 24-10 over the course of the trip.

They're back at home against Edmonton on Saturday.
