The Swift Current Broncos open up training camp today as 100 players take to the ice at the Credit Union iplex.

Broncos' training camp runs though the weekend, and will conclude with the annual Black/White inter-squad game on Monday night.

Broncos Director of Player Personnel Jamie Porter is expecting a lot of battles to shape up, especially on defense and in goal.  "We think we're pretty strong up front, but certainly we have some openings elsewhere.  We've got some younger guys, and it's time for them to start to play now.  We've lost some players through graduation.  The back-end and in net, we have some openings for the first time in several years, which will make for a fairly competitive camp."

Porter adds that some of the young prospects in the 15- to 16-year age group to watch include D Reece Scarlett, D Graham Craige, G Austin Smith, F Evan Richardson, and F Shea Horowko.

There are some morning on-ice sessions, and then a pair of scrimmages at 4pm and 7pm.
