For the first time in seven years, the Saskatchewan Roughriders are looking for a new head coach.

The Riders announced at a media conference in Regina yesterday, that they are parting ways with Barrett - the longest serving head coach in the team's history.

“This was a very, very tough and emotional decision because of the immense respect I have for Danny Barrett,” stated Riders General Manager & Vice President of Football Operations, Eric Tillman.

Tillman says the search for a new head coach will begin immediatelly.

Danny Barrett was on hand for the media conference and handled the decision with class.  "You can either be bitter or be better, and I think I'm a better person for being here, I know I'm a better coach," said Barrett as he addressed the media.
