Connor Sanvido scored once and had two assists in his 200th WHL game as the Swift Current Broncos beat Edmonton 3-1 on Saturday night.

"We needed to keep it simple and I think that's what we did," Sanvido noted. "We were getting pucks in, we were winning our battles, we weren't soft on sticks... we played in their end most of the game."

Sanvido launched the puck from his own end into the empty Edmonton net to secure the victory for Swift Current as they snapped a five game losing streak.

"Came out hard in the first and kept it going in the second," Sanvido said. "A little trouble in the third but we played with the lead, defended it well and came out with the win."

The Maple Ridge, BC product has 68 points in his 200 WHL games. 15 of those have come in his 16 games as a Bronco.

"He's a skilled guy," said Broncos Associate Coach Darren Evjen. "He's got a great shot, he can make plays... that's why he's here as a 20. It's good to see him have success."

The Broncos are now 6-0-0-1 on home ice and 7-8-0-1 in total on the season.

"We do have to get better on the road," Evjen said. "We had some good games where we played well and came up short."

Graham Black and Colby Cave also scored for the Broncos in the win.

Eetu Laurikainen made 26 saves to earn the victory.

"It's great to see him playing well," Evjen said. "I think some of it attributes to guys blocking shots. We weren't doing as good a job of that in the US... he did a good job and if you can keep Edmonton down to one goal you've done a good job that's for sure."

Both teams went 0 for 2 on the power play.

Swift Current will look to snap their seven game road losing streak on Tuesday in Lethbridge.
