A surprise result this afternoon at the 2016 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship in Swift Current.

Chelsea Carey and Team Canada suffered their second loss of the tournament, this time at the hands of South Korea, 8-7.

Holding a one point lead coming home with hammer, Team Canada appeared to be poised to pick up their seventh win of the championship, however with her last rock Carey was heavy on a draw attempt, giving up a steal of two and the game.

“I just threw it to hard, there is really not anything else to say, I just threw it to hard. It was really fast in that spot, the miss was light and not heavy and I just threw it to hard,” she said following the loss.

Dropping to 6-2 Canada will now face a quick turn around, returning to the ice for tonight’s draw against Finland.

"We can't do anything about it now. That game was ours to lose and I did that and it's my fault. I'll hopefully not make another stupid mistake like that,” she added.

With the loss, Canada also momentarily drops out of the 1vs2 Page Playoff game, but right now Carey is not worried about the standings.

"I don't care what's going on around us in the standings," said Carey. "It's not dire, it's just frustrating to have it in your hands and then just give it to them. Losing that game is one thing, doing it like that is another.”

Following tonight’s contest against Finland (1-7) Canada will face a very important day tomorrow with contests against Japan (6-2) and Scotland (7-2), two teams Canada is competing with for one of the top two spots.

After thirteen draws, Switzerland sits atop the leaderboard at 7-1.
