SCCHS Track & Field standout Scott Joseph was recognized over the weekend for his accomplishments in Field events from the past year.

At Sask Athletics' annual awards night, Joseph was crowned the Bob Adams Foundation 'Youth (U18) Male Field Athlete of the Year'

Joseph dominated at Junior Boys Long Jump, and especially Triple Jump over the 2018 season.

Prior to the SHSAA Track and Field season, Joseph racked up gold in both events at the annual Moose Jaw Invitational.

He then set SWAC Sectional records in both events.

Joseph soared 6.46 metres, eclipsing the previous Long Jump record by an even half-metre (5.96 metres). He also destroyed the previous Triple Jump record (11.99 metres), leaping 12.71 metres.

Onto SWAC Districts, Joseph earned gold in both events again.

He fell just one centimetre short of tying the Long Jump record of 6.52 metres, though his 6.51 metre-effort sat 81 centimetres clear of the field. The then-grade 11 athlete obliterated the TJ record by 1.10 metres with a mark of 13.78 metres.

At SHSAA Provincials, Joseph soared to Gold in Triple Jump with a 13.22 metre-effort, though managed just a tenth-place in Long Jump (5.56 metres).

Joseph also closed out the high school season with three provincial medals on the track:

Gold - 100m
Silver - 4x100m relay
Bronze - 200m

Then, Joseph represented Team Sask at the Western Canadian Tri-Province Championship.

He earned gold while setting the U18 Long Jump record (6.63 metres), topping the previous mark of 6.24 metres. Joseph also claimed silver in Triple Jump with a season-best jump of 14 metres on the dot.

Joseph, though still at the U18 level provincially and nationally, now moves up to the Senior Boys division at the SHSAA level, looking for continued success in his final year in high school.
