Wildcats 2012

It seems like a trip to the Battlefords was exactly what the doctor ordered for the female Midget AAA Diamond Energy Wildcats.

Swift Current beat the Sharks 2-1 and 2-0 to move to 5-7 on the season. While they still didn't score much, Wildcats Coach Terry Pavely says they're getting more pucks to the net.

"We cycled the puck better, but weren't content with cycling it," he said. "We started to pull it off the wall... when they cycle, they try to get pucks to the net, and they were more sucessful. I think that's part of it, not being so safe and being content with just cycling it in the corner."

Pavely says their defence also did a great job getting shots through on the Sharks goal while trying to limit opposition chances.

"We want to be the best defensive team in our league," he added. "We've lowered our goals against, and we're the second best goals against team in our league, and we want to build from that end out.

The 5-7 Wildcats visit the first place Prince Albert Bears this coming weekend.
