A small plane crash west of Swift Current tonight has resulted in minor injuries for a pair of passengers.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. in a field about 10 kilometres west of the city.

Louis Cherpin, the fire chief for the Swift Current Rural Fire Department, said the cause of the crash is still under investigation as of 9:30 p.m.

"It's uncertain right now," he said. "They didn't have much altitude and when they did come down they did hit a tree stump, but that was after it landed, I'm not sure what happened yet. Transport Canada will probably come in and do their investigation and figure it out."

According to Cherpin when they arrived at the scene one of the passengers was already on the way to the hospital via a passerby and the other was taken by ambulance. Both were able to walk away from the crash.

All three emergency crews (RCMP, Fire, and EMS) attended the scene.

We'll have more on this as updates arise.
