There wasn't anything in terms of opposition to the proposed development of a crematorium in Swift Current during a public hearing at Monday night's city council meeting.

Warren's Funeral Home is looking at putting a crematorium on Memorial Drive (at Memory Gardens Cemetery on the 1500 block).

Members of the public were able to voice their opinions on the proposed development, and nobody came forward with any concerns.

Brad Warren, of Warren's Funeral Home, said they travel to Moose Jaw to do cremations, and they average roughly 130 to 140 of those per year.

City Councilor and Deputy Mayor Ryan Plewis declared a conflict of interest, as he has family with property by the proposed site.

Council will vote at their next meeting on whether to approve the development as a discretionary use under Zoning Bylaw 24-2014.
