The Federal Government has agreed to share the costs of flood mitigation measures in Saskatchewan.

Premier Brad Wall says he received a letter from Prime Minister Stephen Harper, saying that Ottawa will share on a 50-50 basis the costs of permanent flood protection not otherwise covered by the Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements. This includes the construction of berms, diversion channels, culverts and retention basins.

The Province is estimating that the flood protection measures taken this year would cost $50 million.
