Interest in Saskatchewan continues to grow, with Statistics Canada reporting nearly 6000 more residents than previously thought.

Rob Norris, the Minister of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour, lists some of the benefits of an expanding population.  He says, with a higher population, there are more taxpayers, and more people able to meet the labour market demand with more diverse cosmopolitan communities.

Two or three years ago, the province was concerned with managing decline, but now they face the challenges associated with growth.

Statistics Canada now estimates Saskatchewan's population as of January 1st at more than 1,012,000.  Minister Norris credits the influx to residents from other provinces, as well as international immigrants.
