Danielle and Zane Banadyga, along with their daughter Tazmyn, who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at 16 months old, cut the ribbon to officially start the TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes on Saturday

About a hundred walkers braved the wind and cold to take part in the TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes Saturday in Swift Current.

The money raised in the walk will go toward the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Michelle Steinley with the walk committee says the pledges haven't been totalled yet, but this year's walk looks to be another big success, with about $25,000 raised.
Steinley says she's appreciative of the support for those who suffer from Type 1 Diabetes in the community, many of whom took part in the walk or were community ambassadors. She adds the support group has been fundamental for people who live with Type 1 Diabetes, and Saturday they had a lot of friends and family come out to support them, along with other people in the community, and that means a lot to people who live with Type 1 Diabetes and the people that support them.
The TELUS walk has a national goal of raising $7.7 million for the JDRF.
