The Saskatchewan government announced roughly $1.1 million dollars in charitable gaming grants were distributed to more than 300 organizations across the province during the quarter ending December 31st.

The grants are provided by the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority every quarter to non-profit organizations that hold charitable gaming fundraisers such as licensed bingos, 50/50 draws, poker tournaments and Nevada ticket sales. Eligible organizations can receive a grant equal to 25 percent of the net revenues from these activities, up to a total of $100,000 annually.

"Charitable gaming grants enhance the fundraising efforts of many volunteer organizations by supporting worthwhile community initiatives in the areas of health care, education and recreation," Minister Responsible for Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority Jim Reiter said. "We appreciate the efforts of volunteers in their communities and are pleased to provide them with this additional funding."
