Yesterday a group of individuals made their way through Swift Current while on a meaningful journey of remembrance and awareness.

Jazz Lavallee, River Steele, Janette Klassen, Vernon Dustyhorn and Virgil Moar have embarked on this journey together in recognition of Every Child Matters.

The walk began in Winnipeg as participant Jazz Lavallee explains.

"We started in Winnipeg, we left September 1st at 2:15 pm were walking every inch of the highway headed to Kamloops B.C. honoring different residential schools and cemeteries along the way where there are children. We are doing it for children all the way, every step is for children survivors to let them know they are not alone people out here care."

Lavallee says that the personal motivation to embark on this journey is the children because if we have anything in common it's the fact that we have all been a child at one time.

The walk has received an abundance of support as Lavelle explains.

"thank you so much for every wave, every honk, every pull-over. All the time you take to come and see us and talk to us, walk with us we've had people walk with us, the gifts, everything has been out of this world. I can't say thank you enough."

In addition, Lavallee adds that saying thank you doesn't cover the love that they received. She says they are going to make it all the way to Kamloops and every inch of the highway will be covered.
