If you're planning on travelling on the highways in the province this Canada Day or on holidays this summer, you might want to check your route first on the Highway Hotline to save you time, and to ensure you don't have to deal with any surprises.

"Whether by phone, or Facebook, or on Twitter, and I follow all of them, there's always some really great information there, whether it's construction zones, whether it's questionable highway conditions due to a storm or something like that, sometimes we have limited traffic or closed highways due to an accident, unfortunately, even the people using the ferries in some of our areas in the province where we have to get across some water bodies with the ferries, all that pertinent information through the Ministry of Highways is shared on Highway Hotline," said Greg Ottenbreit, Minister of Highways and Infrastructure.

He noted they even sometimes have information on some of the northern airports in the province managed by the Ministry of Highways, specifically north of Prince Albert.

"I've got to give kudos to our people over at Highway Hotline," he added. "From time to time, you'll also see announcements on there, where we're spending the money, and some of the improvements we're planning on, either short term or even longer-term down the road."
