Those affected by the flooding in Maple Creek and other southwest communities may be eligible for assistance from the provincial government.

Colin King is the Deputy Fire Commissioner with the Ministry of Corrections, Public Safety, and Policing.  He says the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program is availble to those in flood emergency communities, including Maple Creek, its surrounding RM, and the town of Burstall, to those who incur substantial losses to uninsurable property.  He says the money can be used for clean-up and tangible losses only, and the assistance helps claimants restore the eligible property to pre-disaster conditions.

King adds, staff from the Office of the Fire Commissioner are in touch with the flood emergency areas, and they are advising residents of the program.
