A wet spring followed by sunshine this summer means mosqitoes in the southwest.

The Cypress Health Region says people need to take the necessary precautions and protect themselves from bites and west nile virus.

Consulting Medical Health Officer Dr. David Torr says West Nile can be a tough disease to detect, but there are symptons to watch out for:



Torr says people need to protect themselves, and especially children, by using good insect repellant and wearing appropriate clothing, especially if they are in areas where there could be large numbers of mosqitoes.
