For many of you, food is the best part of the holidays and the worst.

Jolene Rommelaere, a dietitian from the Cypress Health Region shared a few tips with us on how to stay happy and healthy on the holidays:

-Don't go to parties hungry.
-Eat regularly during the day.
-Have a small healthy snack an hour before heading out to a holiday party.
-Don't skip meals.
-Keep your portions controlled by using smaller plates.

"Think small, maybe a little yogurt or fruit." Said Rommelaere in regards to snacking.

Rommelaere also has some tips for keeping your holidays stress free, especially when it comes to meal planning.

"Try to cook meals ahead of time." Said Rommelaere.

You can do this by making food in a slow cooker. Another good idea is to stock up on healthy snacks beforehand, like pre-cut fruit and veggies.
