Areas of Saskatchewan hit with flooding and excess rainfall last summer could receive a high runoff this spring.

In the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority's Preliminary Spring 2011 Runoff Forecast, the southern half of the province could receive above normal runoff, with high runoff possible in eastern Saskatchewan and the Cypress Hills.

John Fahlman, Acting Director of Basin Operations for the Watershed Authority, says it is not surprising, given fall moisture conditions and above-normal snowfall in the winter.

Fahlman adds people who they think may be at risk of flooding should be prepared and should keep an eye on updated runoff forecasts from the authority, with their next one to be released in February.
