SGI tabled their 2018-19 Financial and Operational Highlights yesterday in the provincial legislature for both the Saskatchewan Auto Fund and SGI CANADA.

The Saskatchewan Auto Fund is the self-sustaining, compulsory auto insurance plan administered by SGI on behalf of the province.

Saskatchewan residents now enjoy, on average, the lowest overall personal vehicle insurance rates in Canada.

Auto Fund highlights for 2018-19 include $894 million in claims and $956.5 million in gross premium written.

There has been $149.1 million in discounts to customers through The Safe Driver Recognition and Business Recognition Programs and $26.2 million net storm claims.

The SGI Saskatchewan Auto Fund has also implemented new mandatory training standards for commercial semi drivers and put new impaired driving legislation into effect.

SGI CANADA is the competitive side of SGI's operation, selling property and casualty insurance in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and British Columbia.

Highlights for SGI CANADA for 2018-19 include $48 million in profit and a $12.5 million dividend to The Crown Investments Corporation.

SGI CANADA had a 13.4 per cent premium growth, outperforming the industry average of about 6.7 percent, written outside of Saskatchewan. This achieves their goal of 40 percent one year ahead of target.

SGI CANADA has more than 940,000 customers across the country.
