winter warning

It's hard to say if winter will leave this year or not.

Despite it being the first day of spring, Environment Canada is preparing us for more snow and cooler temperatures to take us through the weekend. The snow is expected to start falling tonight with around 12 cm expected by Friday.

There's also a blowing snow warning for Swift Current and area, with strong gusty winds expected to cause reduced visibilities in blowing snow this afternoon and tonight.

These conditions have made for a difficult time on the roads, and travel is not being recommended on many highways in the Southwest with ice and reduced visibility being reported. There have also been reports of a number of traffic collisions caused by the poor weather conditions.

Motorists are asked to call the Highway Hotline at 1-888-335-7623 for the latest highway conditions, or click the road report link at Swift Current Online.
