The local non-profit, Tourism Swift Current, has been going through a major transformation these past few months including a brand new location, additional features, and a catchy new logo.

The organization made the move from a desk at the Swift Current Museum to a newly renovated office space at the north end of the Swift Current Mall.

Rebecca Anderson, chief executive officer for Tourism Swift Current, notes that when she first arrived at the position less than a year ago, changes were already underway.

"With discussion with the board we just thought about what the organization was and where we wanted it to go," said Anderson. "Part of that was a rebranding, we wanted to make sure that we had that differentiation so that people understood we're our own non-profit organization.

"Also we felt that it was really important for us to be very visible. How many travellers come off the highway already use this as a stopping place and now we'll be right here to pull them in and say; hey there's all this that you can enjoy in our city and region."

The new logo is a circle sporting intricate lines that could represent a sun with rays over fields, highways, hills, the creek and rivers, or even a hub with spokes.

"Our new logo can be interpreted in so many ways and that's what really attracted our committee to it," Anderson said. "We see our region as kind of being that hub and spoke, with Swift Current we can draw a lot of people off the highway."

Tourism Swift Current will be busy with a series of upcoming events including a social media campaign for Tourism Awareness Week, a grand reopening, a Service Best course, and their Regional Conference.

The free-of-charge Service Best course will take place on April 19 for anyone working in a tourism-related industry including hospitality, retail, and more.

"On April 18 we're hosting a Chamber on Tap event for our grand opening here at our location in the mall from 5 - 7 p.m," noted Anderson. "There will be appetizers and a cash bar."

Anyone interested in registering for the Service Best course or the Regional Conference can stop by Tourism Swift Current's office, check out their website, or look for them on social media.
