After three years with Detroit as an Assistant Coach, Todd McLellan is closing in on a Stanley Cup.

The assistant to Red Wings' Head Coach Mike Babcock gives the Stanley Cup Final a local feel.

McLellan was the Head Coach of the Swift Current Broncos for five seasons, from 1994-2000.  Over that time, McLellan posted four seasons with a record above .500.

McLellan, a native of Melville, left the Broncos to become Head Coach of the Cleveland Lumber Jacks in the American Hockey League.  He would eventually move to the Houston Aeros before joining the Red Wings' coaching staff three seasons ago.
