Another local business has come forward with a case of COVID-19.

Vision Care Clinic initially announced via Facebook that two of their staff members had developed potentially "COVID-like" symptoms over the weekend.

Out of an abundance of caution, they made the decision to close their offices for a few days pending the outcome of COVID-19 testing.

That prudence has proved to have been valuable, as Vision Care Clinic received word last night that one of the two people with symptoms had in fact tested positive for the virus, while the other tested negative.

Dr. Heath Holliday is one of the optometrists at Vision Care Clinic. He says that they feel good about the pre-emptive decision.

That decision, along with an already existing mask policy leaves him hopeful that the risk remains low despite the positive case.

"No one is Exhibiting symptoms, and we do feel good about the decision we made preemptively to shut things down for Monday and Tuesday even though we didn't have the results of anything yet for the symptoms that did show up Sunday. We have had a full-time mask policy and tons of handwashing and sanitization, so we feel like the risk to the public has been low, and we're going to be finding out soon hopefully."

As reported in their Facebook post, all staff members that were in close contact with the positive case have had testing and are waiting for results to come back.

In the meantime, Holliday says that they will be conducting only limited services at their office.

"We're just doing everything we can to keep everyone as aware as possible and as transparent as we can and we have felt fortunate to receive the support of the community thus."

Vision Care Clinic will update their customers as they continue to get more information.
