The Southwest Enterprise Region is continuing to develop a regional broadband network for the southwest, and highlighted it at a banquet at the Sky Centre in Swift Current last night.

The region recently completed a proof of concept for the project and is now going ahead with a business plan.

John Jung, CEO of Canada's Technology Triangle in Waterloo, Ontario, spoke at the banquet and highlighted the importance of providing a broadband network throughout the region, and also talked about how the Waterloo region became a hub of the tech industry in North America:

One of the most well known tech companies based in Waterloo is Research in Motion, makers of the popular Blackberry smartphone.
