Saskatchewan residents can breathe easier knowing we enjoy good quality air in the province.

Over the past ten years, air quality was measured in 6 Saskatchewan communities, including Swift Current, and the air was rated as good to excellent. The study used the Air Quality Health index, which factors in five common air pollutants including sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone and particulate matter.

"The air quality is actually quite good in Swift Current," said Kevin McCullum, Chief Engineer with the Ministry of Environment. "We were showing that some of the numbers are very low, so it's actually quite good news. We post it online in real time, so anybody can go on the Ministry's website and look at the real-time air quality in Swift Current, and they have the rating right there. It's a gague that listing the air quality index as good, fair or poor, but in most cases we're down in the 'good' range."
