Local man fined over $1,000 after failing to comply with release order
A southwest man will be paying off significant fines after being sentenced on a duo of charges stemming from a previous release order. Swift Current's Jareme Gardner pleaded guilty and was sentenced last Wednesday in Swift Current Provincial Court on two counts of failure to comply with a release order under Section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code. The 39-year-old received a pair of $500 fines and two $150 surcharges, for a total of $1,300 to be paid to the courthouse by the end of September 2026. On March 17, 2025, local RCMP charged the accused after he failed to report to a bail supervisor or designate as stated to do so by a past order. Five days later, Gardner was issued the second charge when he broke additional conditions, failing to remain inside an approved residence in Swift Current between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. He was credited with 3 days of time served in custody before the sentencing and will serve no additional time.
