A head-on collision between two SUVs just north of Elrose on Highway 4 left six people dead on Friday.

Rosetown RCMP responded to a report of a collision in the northbound lane of Highway 4 at 4:35 p.m.

The driver and lone occupant of one SUV was a 71-year-old female from the Swift Current area.

The five people in the other SUV included a 26-year-old male, a 28 year old female and three children ages 6, 4 and 2. All from the same family from the Rosetown area.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Two RCMP Traffic Reconstructionists responded to the scene, and the RCMP said that their reports would take some time to complete.
