Drivers speeding in construction zones across Saskatchewan highways this spring will run the risk of receiving a speeding ticket by the Highway Transport Patrol

Full Audio Doug Wakabayashi"For the next little bit is using officers from the Highway Transport Patrol to enforce speed limits in construction zones across the provincial highway system. It's an interim measure until the new photo radar system is up and running," said Doug Wakabayashi with Highways and Infrastructure. "We expect to have the new photo radar system up and running by later this spring and then again once that's up and running the Highway Transport officers may also be used periodically to augment both the photo radar system and the RCMP."

Wakabayashi added this is another step in the increased safety improvement in work zones stemming from the tragic death of flag person Ashley Richards in the Fall of 2012.
