Cowboys from Swift Current and the surrounding area will be making their way to the Sandhills Rodeo Grounds this weekend for the 52nd annual Sandhills Rodeo.

Known as the oldest CCA rodeo, this weekends events will kick off with a rodeo beginning on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Justin Duncan, Chairman of Sandhills Rodeo says Swift Current will be well represented this year.

"The dance Saturday night, Bakersfeild a local band from Swift Current there and lots of local entries from Swift Current, Leader and surrounding area. Lot's of local cowboys that everybody knows."

Other events throughout the weekend include a cowboy breakfast on Sunday morning beginning at 8 a.m. followed by the Slack at 10 a.m. and a second rodeo at 2 p.m.

Duncan adds that a live auction will take place on Sunday during the rodeo intermission and on both days children's entertainment will also be provided during the intermission.

For those wanting to make a weekend of the event, Duncan says those wanting to may stay over night.

"Tickets are at the gate. There are no advanced tickets. Just come on out on Saturday and Sunday. If you want to come out on Saturday and bring your camper or your tent, there's weekend passes.There's unlimited space out here for camping and tenting."

Shayla Duncan, Toni Theaker and Stephanie Furseth-Doll will all compete for the title of 2015 Rodeo Queen.
