Drivers traveling westbound on the Number 1 highway through Swift Current will be noticing construction crews, as they work on a major paving project.

The 5.6 Million dollar project begins on the east end of Swift Current, and continues to the highway 32 junction.

Sonja Orban, Acting Communications Consultant for Highways and Infrastructure, says so far, the construction season has been a strong one.

"It's been a fairly good season for us just because it has been dryer and nicer weather, so we have had plenty of opportunity to get lots of our maintenance projects done and a lot of our plant work has been done on schedule," she said.

Orban also added, the Number 1 is not the only southwest road receiving a major paving makeover. Highway 43, east of Gravelbourgh is being worked on up to the junction of Highway 2.

Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed in the Fall.
