Baked goods are being used to help do some good in southwest Saskatchewan.

Vision Care in Swift Current has begun its month-long bake sale fundraising campaign.

The sale of baked treats at their branch will be going towards the Dr.Noble Irwin Healthcare Foundation.

"We were approached by the foundation with the goal of raising money in mind," Heath Holliday, an optometrist with Vision Care in Swift Current, said. "We tried to put our creative heads together and came up with the idea to have a bake sale."

The optometry office will be selling homemade baking such as butter tarts, cupcakes, and cookies for the rest of the month on Thursdays and Friday.

Totals raised by the sale haven't been calculated yet, but Holliday said the donation-based sale was going rather swimmingly.

"We've had some very generous patients provide very large-sized donations, so we certainly appreciate that, but we have no minimum either, and we're just happy to do anything we can to help raise money for the campaign."

Funds raised will go towards the "Close to the Heart" campaign to fund a new digital mammography machine.

He said that being a healthcare providing organization, Vission Care was eager to support the Dr.Noble Irwin Healthcare Foundation.

Holliday said that they would be happy to partner with the foundation in the future as well.
