A local ag manufacturer is celebrating the grand opening of their new facility.

BATCO-REM moved into the former Urban Forest Recyclers building in Swift Current Munro Industrial Park last year, and representatives from the City, parent company Ag Growth international and dealers from around the world gathered to officially open the facility on Tuesday.

"We had outgrown our facility out along the North Service Road to the point where if we didn't do something, we were going to start losing market share," said Gary Anderson, President and CEO of AGI. "When UFR decided to leave town, we were all over that. It was a great opportunity for us and it made a lot of sense."

Since moving into the 114,000 square-foot facility just off Memorial Drive, AGI added a new powder coat paint line for the BATCO belt conveyors, and they also had the capacity to add the REM Grainvac line, which AGI acquired from S3 Enterprises in February.

"We've removed the capacity constraint, and we can now move forward with building the market," Anderson said, adding the new building will position them well for the future after acquiring additional land from the City earlier this year," said Anderson.

"We've acquired another property next to us, so we've got room five years down the road whenever we need it," Anderson added. "You have to think forward a long period of time. You don't want to get boxed in, so this gives us an additional option as we grow the business."
