Saskatchewan shoppers would rather relax or visit with family and friends than battle crowds for a bargain on Boxing Day.

That comes from a recent survey by Visa Canada, which shows 21% of people in the province plan to take advantage of Boxing Day sales today.

Those who are going shopping today will spend an average of $166, which is down from the national average of $233.  That translates to a total of $22.3 million.

Of those willing to battle the crowds, only a third of them are willing to wait in line for a deal.

The survey shows 41% will be looking for electronics, 26% for clothing, and 13% will take advantage of discounted holiday decorations.

Nationally, Visa says Canadians are expected to spend $1.18 billion on Boxing Day bargains.
