The Chinook School Division is inviting the public to a series of meetings regarding their schools and the results of a recent public opinion survey.

"The core school meetings were having on October 28th, 29th, and 30th, is another step in the process of the core school consultation. Now, we started that this fall with the surveys that we put out for parents and the public to participate in. From that now we are going to present the survey results and have some discussions and present some other information with our parents and our communities at the three schools," said Joanne Booth, Communications Coordinator at the Chinook School Division.

As a result of a school facility committee report in 2011 that indicated they were hearing feedback, the committee recommended that the school board gather the feedback from the community to develop plans for the facilities.

"In anticipation of enrolment changes due to the opening of Ecole Centennial School and the extension of Fairview School to include kindergarten to grade 8, our board is reviewing the three remaining schools in Swift Current: Irwin, Central and Ashley Park," said Booth. "When Centennial opens, the total enrolment of these schools is expected to be approximately 685 students and the total functional capacity of these schools is 1200 students so the board is looking at reviewing the schools facilities."

The meetings will take place on:
Monday October 28th at 7:00pm at Central School
Tuesday October 29 at 7:00pm at Irwin Middle School
and on Wednesday October 30th at 7:00pm at Ashley Park School

Parents and community members urged to attend to ask questions and give opinions. For more information visit their website at www.chinooksd.ca or call the Chinook office at 306-778-9200.
