duck derby

The Southwest Crisis Services in Swift Current is proud to announce it's 25th anniversary Duck Derby this weekend.

The derby will run in conjunction this year with the Innovation Credit Union Picnic inn the Park, which will be held at Riverside Park.

"We've got some fabulous prizes again this year," said Executive Director of the Southwest Crisis Services, Teresa Cole, "we've got two series of tickets, we've got a $5 ticket for a WestJet voucher anywhere they fly for two people, and our $2 tickets have 3 main prizes this year, and in addition, all of those $2 tickets are going to be put into a special draw this year for our 25th anniversary, so every ticket potentially, you'll have more than one chance to win, and what we're going to be doing is our Golden Ducks Draw, so we're going to do a paper draw after the race itself and choose 25 names for $25 cash each."

The ducks will drop at 4:00pm at a spot below the CPR dam, and the finish line will be past the Lee Bridge.

Cole said you can rest assured, your money is going to a good cause if you buy tickets this year.

"All of the proceeds from the whole race will go to programs that run out of the Southwest shelter, so that will be the shelter itself, our women's outreach program, our children's outreach program, our Genesis House second-stage housing, as well as the crisis line."

Tickets are still available at a number of businesses in town, including at the Wheatland Mall Thursday and Friday, as well remaining tickets will be on sale at the Picnic inn the Park.
