Today marks the final Market Square of the season

Swift Current's Market Square has been steadily improving year after year, but today is the last one of the season.

Along with the wide range of vendors, there will be music featuring Country Strings with Rob Hudec and Becky Neustater. The featured business of the week is a non-profit organization, the United Way.

Marlene Johnson is the Executive Assistant for the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer and says Market Square is a unifying force for Swift Current.

"I do believe that it brings the community together and a sense of gathering in the downtown. And I really hope the businesses downtown see an impact on the hustle and bustle that happens on Saturdays." she said.

Johnson credits the success to of Market Square for its collaborative approach.

"Market Square wouldn't be what it is without the partnership with the farmer's market. After we're done this Market Square, we'll all gather and go over the season and find out what worked, what didn't, what we'd like to change and improve - and different things that people have mentioned to us throughout the summer," she added.

Johnson also recognizes Standard Motors as the presenting sponsor. Today's Market Square runs from 10am to 3pm.
