It's one of the biggest weeks of the year in Swift Current.

The 75th Anniversary of Frontier Days kicks off today.

"We have the (WW Smith Centennial) pancake breakfast," said Event Development Coordinator with the Swift Current Ag & Ex Lenora Bells.  "We're going to have an actual kick off opening ceremony, a branding, parade marshals that are actually from the 1938 parade and then of course we have the midway."

It's a huge weekend for the community that has always drawn interest from outside the southwest.

Interview with Lenora Bells"In 1938, we had 25,000 people here and we were a city of 5000," Bell said. "Every year people keep coming back because of the fun and the enjoyment and the welcoming community we have. More than 500 volunteers (are) willing to take part and we're just so fortunate to have that in our community."

The fair starts this morning with the W.W Smith Insurance Centennial Pancake Breakfast at Market Square.

Fairgrounds are open after the 4pm Kiddie's parade.

The Florida Georgia Line Show starts at 8pm.

Frontier Days runs all the way up until a 11pm fireworks show on Sunday.
