Shaunavon Council Candidate Grant Greenslade

In the final few days before the Civic Elections on Wednesday, candidates for Mayor and Town Council in Shaunavon are hitting the campaign trail.

Grant Greenslade is looking for his fourth term on Town Council. He was born and raised here in Shaunavon, runs his own business, Greenslade Consulting, and he and his wife Sandy have two children.

"I want to run one more term to ensure the projects we've got started get completed, and get done on time and on budget," Greenslade said. "I want to see the Bench View subdivision completed, I'd like to see some pavement on there, so we can start selling the lots. I'd like to see if we could attract some more commercial businesses, since industrial has done very well... I want to see through some of the projects that are pressing or ongoing."

Greenslade adds he believes the current town council has accomplished a lot in Shaunavon over the last three years.

"We've seen the completion of the Crescent Point Wickenheiser Centre, we've added lots in the Industrial Park area, as well as started the Bench View subdivision, which should be done this spring, and we've also expanded the water system and tied into existing wells," he added. "We've focused on presenting Shaunavon for future growth and sort of set up the framework for Shaunavon to grow on in the future."

Eight people are running for six town council positions in Shaunavon for the October 24th elections, while the mayor's race has Joel Sopp challenging incumbent Mayor Sharon Dickie.
