One southwest man is making a big splash in Hollywood.

After 10 years at Golden West Radio, Herbert's Trent Redekop packed his bag and headed to Vancouver to become part of Hollywood's North scene.

After taking classes at the Vancouver Arts School and working full-time as an actor, Redekop was rewarded earlier this year by landing a part in the Netflix Original Show, A Series of Unfortunate Events.

He appeared in two episodes of the TV show acting as Cesar, the youngest of the Baudelaire kids (replicating him 100 years in the future).

"It was fun, being on that set was pretty cool. It had a really big budget and the props were incredible," Redekop told Swift Current Online. "I played such a niche character, it wasn't something you sink your teeth like an actor of a theater would, but it was fun."

The actor was also able to land a lead role this past winter as a dirty cop in the movie Filthy Swine.

"It's a really gritty, Indie feature film, that I told my mom specifically she couldn't watch because it's a very rough movie," he said with a laugh.

Even with Redekop's acting success lately, he still retains his day jobs. One of which he is a manager of member services at a golf course in Vancouver and the other is a DJ.

He encourages anyone who is thinking of pursuing an acting career to do the same.

"Find a job that you can be happy with on the side because it's a waiting process and a lot of luck involve (to land an acting role)," the Herbert native added. "There is going to be a time where you are going to get lucky and the best thing to do is be prepared for it. Just keep on taking classes after (you are finished) school and always do theater, when the time comes, you will be ready for it."

The support he has received from his hometown friends and family has been overwhelming for him especially on social media.

Redekop and his agent are going to make a demo reel out of his recent acting, in hopes of landing a bigger role in the future.
