Improve

It's unscripted and the sky is the limit.

The Swift Current Improvisational Theatre has seen tremendous growth since they started getting together to put on improv comedy shows three years ago.

Stefan Rumpel first organized the shows that have grown to the point of nearly filling the Lyric theatre.

"Every show that we've done so far this year we've gotten bigger and bigger," said SCIT actor Chris Martens. "Our last show we were pretty close to selling out. A lot of it is word of mouth. As long as we keep putting on what we feel our good shows it's only going to pick up."

He tried to put his finger on why the popularity of their show is growing.

Chris Martens Interview"You never know what you can see," Martens said. "Nothing is pre-planned out, we don't have scripts... everything is just a surprise. We play a lot of games and there's some crowd interaction along with it. It's always something new and something different."

With the increased level of interest the SCIT has registered themselves with the province and is starting to book their own shows.

"The word is spreading fast," Martens noted. "The more people come out the more people are actually asking us what we can do and what we are available for. The options are limitless. We're really open and excited to expand our walls and see where we can go from here."

"They're not just limited to an improv show we've got a variety of different options that are available to do a different show."

If you're interested in booking the SCIT for your event you can contact Stefan Rumpel at (306) 741-5317.

The next Improv Comedy Night at the Lyric Theatre is Friday night at 8pm.
