It looks as though some high school sports will be a go in the South West Athletic Conference (SWAC) this fall, but the events will be more localized.

There will be five 9-man football teams in the Chinook School Division with three (Maple Creek, Shaunavon, and Gull Lake) making a mini-league of their own. The other two teams will be created with students from the Swift Current Comp and they will just play each other. Games for both leagues are expected to begin after Thanksgiving.

It appears as though the lone golf event will be held in Eastend this Saturday however it's not a district championship but more of a celebration for students who partake in the sport.

Cross-country running will also host a race in Eastend. It will take place after Thanksgiving and won't be a district championship either.

And for soccer, the Swift Current Comp will look to have two teams (7-on-7) that play each other.
