The Government of Saskatchewan is introducing new legislation that will allow 14- and 15-year-olds to enter the workforce.

Advanced Education, Employment, and Labour Minister Rob Norris says parental consent is needed, and an online health and safety course must be completed.  They also can't work past 10pm on a school night, and they can't work more than 16 hours per week.

Norris adds that the regulations will help with the ongoing labour shortage, particularly in the service industry.

The new rules take effect next month.
