Team Canada has arrived in Swift Current.

The Calgary foursome, consisting of Skip: Chelsea Carey, Third: Amy Nixon, Second: Jocelyn Peterman and Lead: Laine Peters arrived yesterday in preparation for the Ford World Women's Curling Championship which begins tomorrow.

Nixon, a Regina native says she is looking forward to playing in Swift Current.

"The most special thing ever is to play in a smaller city, actually in Saskatchewan I would venture to say. The last two years the slam in Yorkton has been my favourite event so I expect it will be very similar in Swift Current. The fans are so knowledgeable and so into it. It makes it such a pleasure to have the fans so engaged in the game and understanding what is going on out there," she said.

Nixon also added that playing close to home is a benefit, despite any pressure there may be from the hometown crowd.

"I don't think there is any extra pressure playing the World's in Saskatchewan, I think it is a total gift. We drove here from our home city in Calgary. There is no time change, no language barrier, the food will be familiar. It is a gift to be playing in Swift Current," she said.

Team Canada will begin their run tomorrow afternoon.

They will take on Denmark's Lene Nielsen in the event's opening draw.

Also on the ice for the first draw tomorrow will be Team USA against Team Switzerland, Team Japan versus Team Finland and Team Russia taking on Team Italy.
