Two people were killed in two separate traffic accidents this Christmas weekend.

RCMP were called to highway 13 two kilometres west of Kincaid just after 10:00am Monday, where two vehicles collided. An occupant of one of the vehicles was found dead at the scene, while a person in the other vehicle was injured and sent to hospital in Gravelbourg with non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the victim has not been released by police, but the victim's family identified him as 69-year-old Father Raymond Carignan, a Catholic Church priest from Ponteix.

RCMP are continuing their investigation, saying that icy road conditions were a major factor in the accident. They were warning against travel in that area following the collision, but conditions have since improved.

Also, a former WHL player was killed in a single-vehicle rollover near Fort Qu'Appelle this morning. The accident occured at around 2:49am near the intersection of highways 22 and 35, also known as the Lipton turnoff. The male victim has been identified as 25-year-old Tyson Sievert of Earl Grey, who played with the Regina Pats, Moose Jaw Warriors and Saskatoon Blades from 2004 to 2006. RCMP are continuing their investigation of the collision.
