Swift Current RCMP are investigating a sudden death that occurred in the city.

     Sergeant Pat Laybolt of the City RCMP Detachment says police responded to an altercation in the 600 block of Robert Street East at 1:10 Sunday morning.

     A 25-year-old man from the Swift Current district later died at Cypress Regional Hospital.

     Laybolt adds that the death is being treated as suspicious, and an autopsy has been ordered.  The autopsy will take place today in Regina.  

     The incident is under an investigation involving City RCMP, the Regina Major Crimes Unit, and the Regina Forensic Identification Unit.  No charges have been laid at this time.

     RCMP have confirmed that another individual was also admitted to hospital in connection with the incident.  That individual was treated and released.
