windscape 2012

The SaskPower Windscape Kite Festival is back for another year in Swift Current with hopes of drawing 10,000 people to the city.

"We have kite flyers coming from all over Canada, the United-States and Germany," said Organizer Shann Gowan. "Really excited about our lineup of celebrity flyer's. Robin Poitras from New Dance Horizon's is going to come dance with her silks in the wind. We have a Gustavo The Impossibilities who will be on stage at 11 and 3 each day."

"We've got some really neat things planned."

The festival has grown every year and continued to draw more people.

"We've been working really hard to get all those people here," Gowan said. "I'm always thrilled when they come. Last year we had 8,000 we're hoping for 10,000 this year. I'm hoping the weather holds up enough that we get those numbers. It's a really cool festival, everybody that does come enjoys themselves so I think it will continue to grow."

The Kite Festival runs from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday at Marston St. and 11th Ave. SW in Swift Current.

It's free to get in and runs in conjunction with the four day Long Days Night Music Festival.

"This is a fantastic lineup," Gowan said. "It's very diverse, a lot of fun. Four nights of amazing music."

The music festival is sold out for both tonight and tomorrow's shows.
